Mama + Creative endeavor + Digital Creator
Hello, I’m Wulan!
Hello Sleepywhale was first an Illustration Design company / workshop of mine that started in Chicago, IL, after leaving a corporate design job to pursue creating and crafting full time. After a long journey of building a small business, taking and teaching workshop between Chicago and Jakarta, I found myself in Montreal in the Fall of 2016 and became an Early Childhood Educator.
Started in the Preschool classrooms to eventually teaching Early Childhood Education Program at a local College, my husband and I found ourselves expecting our first child, which led me to leave the ECE program to welcome our baby boy and navigating this new Mama era.
Fast forward to now, our child is almost two years old and I found myself finding a new voice that suits my new life as a mother. I struggled trying to find the balance of blending my own identity before becoming a mother and the person I have become today. It’s a complex yet delicate process and, while I navigate these different phases of motherhood, I found pottery as a medium of self care and creative outlet.
In this process of learning pottery, I created a digital Pottery Diary, which led me to create video contents for myself and eventually with the Atelier and a few smaller brands.
